Maya Vatkin

My name is Maya Vatkin, I’m 17 years old from Jerusalem. I participated in the summer course of the Kibbutz Dance Company twice – two consecutive years. At first, the course sounded intimidating, and you’re not completely sure what to expect and what’s waiting for you – a whole week away from home and sometimes with people you don’t even know. It definitely took me a few days to adjust, but once you’re there, it’s an incredible experience. For a moment, you feel like a professional dancer, with an intense schedule that allows you to dance all day. It’s tough, but so rewarding. The enjoyment is immense.

The teachers are excellent, and there’s something to learn from each one of them. The instructors are extremely caring, and they give personal attention to everyone who arrives and take care of everything that’s needed. As someone who comes from a dance major in school and wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue dancing, the course at Kibbutz Dance Company gave me tremendous motivation and reminded me why I get up to dance every morning.

I highly recommend the course; you’ll meet amazing friends and excellent teachers. It’s simply an incredible fun!
