About the Program
Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s Summer Dance Course invites dancers from around Israel and the world to join us for an unforgettable experience.
Since 2009, during the summer vacation, summer courses for dance students are held at the International Dance Village in Kibbutz Ga’aton. These are two weeks full of experiences that engage the body, heart, and soul through intensive professional work.
Dance students come to us from across Israel and worldwide for three two-week sessions in a dormitory setting. Students are divided by age group and experience and are placed in groups according to their knowledge and performance level, ranging from those beginning their dance journey to experienced dancers. During their stay, students live in Ga’aton alongside the company’s dancers, observing their work up close and learning about the professional world and the meaning of being a professional dancer. Students are exposed to professional dance in various styles, focusing mainly on technique classes (four lessons per day), including classical ballet, modern dance, the Kibbutz Dance Company repertoire, and special workshops that enrich, offer hands-on experience, and provide a unique encounter. The program is part of the essential professional development for all dance students, bringing them closer to their dream of becoming a professional dancer in a dance company.
The courses are taught by a professional staff of Kibbutz Dance Company instructors, guest teachers, and company dancers. They are supported by a team of experienced social counselors and a skilled and extensive staff who manage and produce this large and successful project.
The course is held at Kibbutz Ga’aton, within the heart of the International Dance Village. Students stay in designated air-conditioned dormitory rooms (three students per room), enjoy various social activities, and receive three nutritious meals daily. The professional training, combined with high-quality dormitory conditions, enables social bonding and the creation of a shared experience. The benefits of the kibbutz, together with the professional and inspiring work environment, create a winning combination that has proven itself time and time again, making this program one of the best and most sought-after of its kind.

Following breakfast, we warm up in one of our 10 large professional studios at the International Dance Village with a ballet technique class led by ballet masters and company dancers. Then we take a short snack break with fresh fruits and drinks and proceed to the second-morning class which can consist of either company repertoire, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, improvisation, depending on the day and your group schedule. After lunch, dancers take two additional classes which vary by day.
In addition to the daily technique classes, all participants have the opportunity to attend company rehearsals and performances in the company’s Zichri Theatre at the International Dance Village, where our main company creates and works year round together with Artistic Director Rami Be’er.
Teachers include Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s dancers, renowned ballet masters, international choreographers as well as guest artists. All the students live together in the International Dance Village’s accommodations; just a short walking distance to the studios, and eat all meals in the cafeteria, which provides a full-service dining room with kosher meals and extensive vegetarian options.
After classes, participants have free access to relax by the beautiful outdoor pool near the studios, overlooking the lush green hills of the Galilee and the Mediterranean Sea.
