Neta Beitan-Kefri, Initiator and Founder of the ‘U’Vechart Bachayim’ Project
At the end of June, while we were still in the midst of the war and the painful news kept coming in every day, I felt the need for a change of place, air, and atmosphere, so I drove to Yodfat for a dance performance by the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company.
I arrived with no expectations, not bothering to look into what the performance was about—it was simply a breath of fresh air for me.
And indeed, that’s exactly what it was. The dancers of the young company performed and shared with the audience good music and humor alongside the professionalism of the dance.
In an instant, the atmosphere in the hall changed, creating a space that made us smile and feel happy. Even those who weren’t invited by the dancers got up and joined in. I hadn’t planned on it, but I too was swept away, and it gave the participants moments of sanity and upliftment. I left the performance with both an inner and outer smile, which gave me a different, more positive start to the weekend.
